FES Iztacala began its activities on March 19th 1975,as part of the decentralization program of the Higher Studies of the UNAM. It started functions as a School,which acquires the status of Faculty in May 2001.
The Faculty offers degrees in Biology, Medicine, Optometry, Odontology, Nursing and Psychology. And posgraduated courses in biomedical and environmental fields.
Aquaculture Production Laboratory.
The Biology Degree has imparted the aquaculture subject since 1982, and in 1991 since Aquarium is restructured and Aquaculture Production Laboratory established, where several lines of research are being developed, among which, aquaculture nutrition is present.
