You are embarking on the study of Endodontics, a dental specialty that delves into the intricacies of dental pulp in both its healthy and diseased states. In relation to the healthy pulp, we explore its embryology, morphophysiology, and histology. Once the dental pulp's health is compromised, endodontics also encompasses the study of physiopathological characteristics, etiology, diagnosis, treatment planning, and prognostic assessment of its progression.

We extend a cordial invitation to you to immerse yourself in these ENDODONTIC NOTES, meticulously crafted as an invaluable aid in understanding this captivating specialty. This resource encompasses an array of intricate details, conceptual frameworks, cutting-edge techniques, and more, all subject to continuous evolution and refinement in alignment with scientific advances.
In line with contemporary teaching and learning methodologies, embracing a blended approach of in-person and distance education, commonly referred to as blended learning (b-learning), these notes not only provide immediate access to content but also serve as a dynamic means of communication. This educational approach leverages the strengths of traditional resources while incorporating novelty, creativity, interactivity, dynamism, appropriateness, and numerous other pedagogical values.

The digital medium greatly facilitates ongoing updates, and the authors earnestly welcome any thoughtful feedback from diligent readers, encompassing both the content and its presentation.
NOTAS DE ENDODONCIA (ENDODONTIC NOTES)
In 1999, the UNIVERSIDAD NACIIONAL AUTÓNOMA DE MÉXICO (National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)) experienced a nearly year-long period of activities shutdown. During that period, classes were held off-campus, and both professors and students had to come up with ways to spend their time constructively. To some extent, that inactive period at UNAM resembled the state of paralysis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, lasting for over two academic years.
It was in 1999 when the idea of creating a website called "NOTAS DE ENDODONCIA" (Endodontic Notes) emerged. The page was established on the FES Iztacala server on April 24, 2000, and since then, it has become a support for in-person classes (B-learning). In the situation of the pandemic, it became even more important and transformed from a support tool to a fundamental instrument for the teaching and learning process of the endodontics subject at FES Iztacala, offered remotely (E-learning).
It is an open and free website that aims to stay updated. This last characteristic is where the "NOTAS DE ENDODONCIA" site has the most weaknesses. I, Ricardo A. Rivas Muñoz, am solely responsible for the content and have absolute freedom in its substance and form. I have been fortunate to have the constant approval of the authorities at FES Iztacala, UNAM.
Subsequently, that site was complemented with the pedagogical tools provided by the CAMPUS VIRTUAL DE EDUCACIÓN A DISTANCIA (Virtual University Campus for Distance Education (CUVED/CUVED37)), which is based on the Moodle platform and offers almost infinite possibilities for academic use. However, the "NOTAS DE ENDODONCIA" site remains my digital foundation, and therefore, the endodontics content in CUVED and in the mirror site on Google Sites are auxiliary components of the entire project.
It is currently extremely important for students to consult the "NOTAS DE ENDODONCIA" website, which, apart from strictly adhering to the endodontics curriculum at FES Iztacala, includes many sections that contribute to a more comprehensive education. Technical and pedagogical assistance is available, along with contributions from fellow professors in some of the contents.
The electronic medium facilitates updates, and the authors would greatly appreciate any comments from diligent readers regarding the content or its presentation.
